Ivantsoff's Blue-Eye (Pseudomugil ivantsoffi)

A tiny and colorful blue-eye rainbowfish from West Papua, Indonesia. Named after Dr. Walter Ivantsoff, an Australian ichthyologist known for his work on blue-eyes and other small fish.

 

Key Features

  • Maximum Size: 2.8 cm / ~1.1 inches SL.
  • Appearance: Semi-transparent silvery body with bright blue eyes and red-edged fins. Males are more colorful.
  • Fin Details: Dorsal spines 3–5, dorsal soft rays 4–7; anal spines 1, anal soft rays 9–13.

Aquarium Care

  • Tank Size: Minimum 10 gallons for a small school.
  • Water Parameters: Tropical freshwater; 76–80°F (24–27°C), pH 6.8–7.8, soft to moderate hardness.
