Madagascar Rainbowfish (Bedotia madagascariensis)

A colorful freshwater rainbowfish from the clear, well-shaded streams of eastern Madagascar. Named after Maurice Bedot (1859–1927), a Swiss expert on Hydrozoans.

• Maximum Size: 8.6 cm / ~3.4 inches SL.
• Appearance: Shimmering silver body with reflective markings and colorful fins. Males are more colorful with a pointed first dorsal fin.
• Fin Details: Two dorsal fins.

Aquarium Care

• Tank Size: Minimum 40 gallons for a school.
• Water Parameters: Tropical freshwater; 75–82°F (24–28°C), pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderate hardness. Prefers slightly acidic water.
• Diet: Omnivorous — accepts flakes, pellets, frozen, and live foods.
• Behavior: Peaceful, schooling fish. Excellent for planted community tanks.
