A locality form of Melanotaenia rubrostriata from the Kafyamke region in West Papua, Indonesia. This form is known for its attractive red-striped patterning and active nature.
- Maximum Size: Reaches approximately 10–12 cm (4–4.7 inches) total length.
- Appearance: Body with distinctive red stripes or markings. Males typically show stronger red coloration and more intense patterning than females.
Aquarium Care
- Tank Size: Minimum 55 gallons (ideally 4 feet or longer) for a school.
- Water Parameters: 75–82°F (24–28°C), pH 6.5–7.5, soft to moderate hardness.
- Diet: Omnivorous. Accepts high-quality flakes, pellets, frozen foods, and live foods such as brine shrimp and daphnia.
- Behavior: Peaceful, active schooling fish. Best kept in groups with good swimming space.
IUCN Status: Not formally assessed at the population level.
